I recently experienced some fear about the future. Maybe you can relate? I shared this fear with a dear friend and she offered to pray. As I closed my eyes and bowed my head, she blessed my heart to experience the peace and security that comes from relying upon Jesus. She prayed that I would experience peace that surpasses all understanding. She asked the Lord to reveal his provision and make known His wisdom.
Then an image came to her that she sensed was from God. It was a picture in her mind’s eye of a basket. A lidded, woven basket. In this basket, there was provision for each day. Everything that I needed. And each day, I could stick my hand inside and pull out just what I needed, for the day, for the moment. There was never any lack in this basket of bounty.
My friend then began to guide me in a conversational prayer with Jesus. She prompted me to ask, "Jesus, what is in my basket today?" As I closed my eyes, I heard Him whisper - in the form of a thought - "Companionship". I was immediately comforted - yet surprised. The Lord in His wisdom revealed an immediate need I didn’t realize I had. I would have assumed money, peace, or wisdom but instead, He responded,"companionship". And the moment I heard those words something was greatly calmed within me. It was true. What I needed today was a good friend. And clearly, He had already provided it. Jesus made known my true need and in the same breath made known His faithful provision.
So, Beloved, I pray that you would experience the same with Jesus. We all have an invitation to trust Him daily for fresh manna, for fresh provision. I encourage you to ask the Lord each day, "What is in my basket today?" Then pause and allow Him to reveal your need. I am most assured that what you are needing each day, will also be what He has provided.
