Building What Will Last
In a rare moment in 2020, I walked up the steps of the Supreme Court building, alone. As I approached the structure and stood under its pillars a reoccurring conversation between the Lord and I began. "Jesus, what are you building?", I prayerfully asked Him, "because I don't want to labor where you're not already not at work."
As I stood beneath the structural integrity of the Supreme Court Building, marveling at the skillful and awe-inspiring work done to create it, a different question came to my mind.
"Lord, what can be built that will last?"
The Supreme Court Building has been in existence for nearly 100 years, and yet, even it will one day crumble. As structurally sound and sturdy as it looks, it will not remain. So I listened for His answer and heard back His wisdom, "What you build up in people".
Returning To Joy is committed to a work that will outlast us. We're not building another organization. Our goal is not to see the fruit that sprouts up quickly today but to plant and build the kind of fruit that will remain. Learn more here.
